The Common Man- Foster’s Restaurant
Rte 3, Plymouth, NH
The Nathaniel Bibaud SCI 5K Race / Walk was held on April 30th in Plymouth, NH. The Common Man Restaurant in Plymouth, NH hosted the event. It was held on their premises under sunny skies..a perfect day for a community gathering. The Common Man owner, Alex Ray, the recipient of many civic awards for his charitable efforts was right there amongst his crew serving up food to all the participants. They donated all the food allowing all proceeds from the admission price to go directly to Nate’s fund. The race was organized by Kathy Adams, a friend, and coworkers of Nate’s mom, Deedee who lives in the Plymouth area. They hoped for around 200 runners and knew they had exceeded their goal when the registration line was still snaking around the corner with 10 minutes before the start. A total of 325 runners and walkers cheered Nate on. The course was won by a local guy, Adam Sharp in 17:08 and a female Ellen Tigne in 21:08.
The walkers headed out first, followed by the runners and Nate himself. The 5K course was a loop past cows and horses and finishing in a downhill fast blast. Local companies donated big beginning with over 16 sponsors who were featured on the back of the “Nate-designed” tee shirt. In addition to cash sponsors there were skis, and bikes, rounds of golf and many other generous donations. A 50/50 raffle was won and the money donated right back in the form of an auction bid on golf at the Owl’s Head course. In another generous show of support, Peg D’Haene of Meredith, NH raised over $1000 and proceeded to shave her head at the event to kick off Rip It and Clip It for Nate!
The family of Nate Bibaud wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude for the efforts put forth by the volunteers as well as the race participants. Just under $20,0000 was raised by the first annual road race!
